I have recently found a hobby of watching sociocultural documentaries (mainly on Netflix). It all started with a documentary about Minimalism that makes me realize many things. Then I discovered the documentary «The game changers» focused on food and veganism.

And although you can never believe everything they tell you, I think they are quite inspiring and offer you visions of the world that you do not know and that are still answers to questions that you did not even know you were asking yourself.

The truth is that after seeing them I have felt recognized in some aspects and I have applied some changes in my life that can make it a little better.

However, I have recently seen other documentaries that have left me quite unsettled. Cowspiracy and Seaspiracy, one related to the meat industry and another related to sea pollution and the fishing industry. In both cases, the documentary is related to climate change and what its causes may be.

In one hand, they show you how the consumption of meat in the world is out of control, and how the meat industry poses a great threat to the world and the environment. Therefore, it suggests that somehow we must head towards a world where meat consumption is greatly reduced.

In the other hand, they shows you the path of a young man concerned about sea pollution who, starting to analyze the problem of plastics, reaches how wild the global fishing industry is, how marine fauna is destroyed and the serious consequences that this has For the enviroment. And of course, he suggests to us that fishing and therefore fish consumption in the world should be greatly reduced.

So what should we eat? Are we destined for a vegan world? But if we all went vegan, what other problems would arise globally if they did?

Something that was very shocking to me was the cruelty that existed and the lack of awareness with the environment led by the obsession with money. Is there no limit? Is anything valid to earn more money even when you no longer have time or to spend what you have?

The truth is that watching these documentaries, at a time when we live in the midst of a global pandemic and vaccines are traded like a Persian market, makes it clear that the world is not on the right track and that things can get very ugly in the world. future.

I do not know what I will have to live from all this, at the moment with the pandemic we did not tell anyone, but surely there will be much to know in the near future. The question is, where are we going?

Recientemente he encontrado la afición de ver documentales socioculturales (principalmente en Netflix). Todo empezó con un documental sobre el Minimalismo que te hace darte cuenta de muchas cosas. Después descubrí el documental “The game changers” enfocado en la alimentación y en el veganismo.

Y a pesar de que nunca te puedes creer todo lo que te cuenta, creo que son bastante inspiradores y te ofrecen visiones del mundo que no conoces y que igual son respuestas a preguntas que ni siquiera sabías que te hacías.

Lo cierto es que después de verlos me he sentido reconocido en algunos aspectos y he aplicado algunos cambios en mi vida que pueden hacerla un poco mejor.

Sin embargo, recientemente he visto otros documentales que me han dejado bastante descolocado. Cowspiracy y Seaspiracy, uno relacionado con la industria cárnica y otro relacionado con la contaminación del mar y la industria pesquera. En ambos caso, el documental tiene relación con el cambio climático y cuales pueden ser sus causas.

En uno te muestran cómo el consumo de carne en el mundo está descontrolado, y cómo la industria cárnica supone una gran amenaza para el mundo y el medio ambiente. Por lo que sugiere que de alguna forma debemos encaminarnos a un mundo donde el consumo de carne se vea muy reducido.

En el otro, te muestra el camino de un joven preocupado por la contaminación del mar que empezando a analizar el problema de los plásticos llega a lo salvaje que es la industria pesquera mundial, cómo se destruye la fauna marítima y las graves consecuencias que esto tiene para el medio ambiente. Y por supuesto, nos sugiere que se debería reducir enormemente la pesca y por lo tanto el consumo de pescado en el mundo.

Entonces, ¿qué debemos comer? ¿estamos destinados a un mundo vegano? Pero, si todos nos hiciésemos veganos, ¿que otros problemas surgirían a nivel mundial si así fuese?

Algo que me resultaba muy impactante, era la crueldad que existía y la falta de conciencia con el medio ambiente dirigido por la obsesión del dinero. ¿no existe ningún limite? ¿todo vale para ganar más dinero incluso cuando ya no tienes tiempo ni para gastar lo que tienes?

La verdad es que viendo estos documentales, en un momento en el que vivimos en plena pandemia mundial y se negocia con las vacunas como un mercado persa, hace ver que el mundo no lleva ningún buen camino y que las cosas pueden ponerse muy feas en el futuro.

No se lo que me tocara vivir de todo esto, de momento con la pandemia no contábamos nadie, pero seguro que habrá mucho por conocer en un futuro próximo. La duda es, donde vamos?
