Normally we all tend to accommodate ourselves, look for a situation that is relaxed for us, we know it as the comfort zone. However, staying in the comfort zone can lead us to get stuck in different aspects of our life and settle for elements that are not really what we want.

Personally, I think that you shouldn’t be overly ambitious because you always want to improve in everything, but neither should you settle for the minimum. We must find a balance that allows us to grow as a person, achieve our goals and stay in a zone of happiness.

It is important to set ourselves small challenges that force us to leave that comfort zone to make an effort to improve. I like to challenge sports. And it is that without a challenge, a goal to achieve it is difficult to motivate and demand yourself.

I like to go running. It allows me to relax, think and disconnect. Between 4 and 5 kilometers is comfortable for me and I usually do not exceed that distance. It’s what I might call my comfort zone. But sometimes I have challenged myself with a half marathon, that is, 21 kilometers running. Obviously it is necessary to train to be able to fulfill it and at the same time enjoy it. And that’s how I force myself to run further. 10km, 12km and even 14km races. And more often.

The same applies to other aspects of our life. You can set savings challenges, which as I have already mentioned on several occasions, saving is the basis of a good economy. Every year I set a savings goal for myself and I can be happy because I always exceed it.

At work I also try to get out of my comfort zone. I have never liked anything related to sales and meetings with potential clients. However lately I am forcing myself to get involved in those functions. They help me learn new functions and I think it is important to acquire certain concepts. I also help the company to continue growing.

Another element of my life in which I challenge myself is the food. I am becoming more and more interested in eating healthy. And for this I look for ways to modify my diet to make it better and better. I never imagined ordering some lentils in a restaurant and yet now I do it every week. And I really enjoy them!

I hope that with these examples you can understand the concept of leaving the comfort zone. These are just a few examples but it is applicable to all aspects of life. But the key is simple: challenge you, beat you.

Normalmente todos tendemos a acomodarnos, buscar una situación que nos resulte relajada, lo conocemos como la zona de confort. Sin embargo, mantenernos en la zona de confort puede llevarnos a quedarnos estancados en diferentes aspectos de nuestra vida y conformarnos con elementos que realmente no es lo que deseamos.

Personalmente creo que no hay que pasarse de ambicioso por querer siempre mejorar en todo, pero tampoco conformarnos con lo mínimo. Hay que encontrar un equilibrio que nos permita crecer como persona, alcanzar nuestros objetivos y mantenernos en una zona de felicidad.

Es importante fijarnos pequeños retos que nos obliguen a salir de esa zona de confort para hacer un esfuerzo por mejorar. A mi me gusta hacer retos a nivel deportivo. Y es que sin un reto, un objetivo que alcanzar es difícil motivarse y exigirse.

Me gusta salir a correr. Me permite relajarme, pensar y desconectar. Entre 4 y 5 kilómetros me resulta cómodo y normalmente no supero esa distancia. Es lo que podría llamar mi zona de confort. Pero en ocasiones me he retado con realizar una media maratón, es decir, 21 kilometros corriendo. Evidentemente es necesario entrenar para poder cumplirlo y al mismo tiempo disfrutarlo. Y así es como me obligo a correr más distancia. Carreras de 10 kilometros, de 12 kilometros e incluso de 14 kilometros. Y con más frecuencia.

Esto mismo es aplicable a otros aspectos de nuestra vida. Puedes marcarte retos de ahorro, que como ya he comentado en varias ocasiones ahorrar es la base de una buena economía. Yo todos los años me marco un objetivo de ahorro y puedo estar contento por que siempre lo supero.

En el trabajo también intento salir de mi zona de confort. Nunca me ha gustado todo lo relacionado con la venta y las reuniones con posibles clientes. Sin embargo últimamente me estoy obligando a involucrarme en esas funciones. Me ayudan a aprender nuevas funciones y que creo que es importante adquirir ciertos conceptos. Además ayudo a la empresa a seguir creciendo.

Otro elemento de mi vida en el que me marco retos es en el de la comida. Cada vez me intereso más por comer sano. Y para ello busco formas de modificar mi alimentación para hacerla cada vez mejor. Nunca me imaginé pidiendo unas lentejas en un restaurante y sin embargo ahora lo hago todas las semanas. ¡Y las disfruto muchísimo!

Espero que con estos ejemplos se pueda entender el concepto de salir de la zona de confort. Son sólo algunos ejemplos pero es aplicable a todos los aspectos de la vida. Pero la clave es sencilla: Rétate y venceté.
